I was doing some testing of Mental Ray Caustics in this piece
using one IES Sun (found out that i didnt need to use any more then that, and it also speeded up the caustics calculations by alot of time!)
Faces: 16655
Render Time: 2min 21sec (!!)
I was quite impressed with the short render time and quality of the result, as well as the good compression i was able to get using the jpg format
photoshop used for softening layer / contrast tweaking.
This piece is dedicated to , a great friend of mine
not too sure how it would be moved around, but i guess some sort of vehicle hehe
I used raytracing for the material reflection maps of the metallic reflections, darker brown reflections and the floor reflections. some are just low (eg dark brown 20% reflect) and some have falloff (linear falloff on the ground and dark brown i think)
actually it is a 3d object i modelled in 3dsmax
after rendering i used a duplicated layer which was blurred and then overlayed to enhance the contrast and create a softer look
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
