so basically, it's like a superfast processor that can handle graphics calculations too?

Have you got more information on that processor? I'd sure love to know how they did it, cuz all I knew was that they got stuck on clockspeeds like 3GHz or so, and that was why they started stacking cpu's...

That's awesome. I remember seeing the Quake 3 Raytraced videos years ago. My question though is why the hell are they wasting their time making it run in software mode (on the CPU) instead of using the video cards to render it. Their GPUs are much faster than any CPU right now so I'm sure they could render the scenes much faster. I know NVIDIA has this renderer that uses the video card's power too (though it's not perfect), so I hope everyone goes in that direction, especially since video card speeds advance so much faster than CPU speeds.
